Ingredients
Apple Mixture
2 cups Granny Smith Apples or Honey Crisp Apples diced into 1/4-1/2 inch cubes
2 tablespoons dark brown sugar, packed
1/4 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
Cookie Dough
1/2 cup Unsalted Butter, softened to welcome the sugars
1/2 cup Dark Brown Sugar, packed
1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1 Egg at room temperature
1 1/3 cups All-Purpose Flour, sifted
1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 teaspoon Salt
Plus
A generous drizzle of Rich Salted Caramel Sauce
Instructions
- Apple Prep: Begin by cooking the apple pieces with brown sugar and cinnamon in a pan over medium heat. Stir for about 5 minutes until they’re just softened, then let cool completely.
- Cookie Dough: Cream the butter, sugars, and vanilla until fluffy, then mix in the egg. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt, and gently fold into the butter mixture until nearly mixed.
- Combine: Fold in the cooled apple mixture in two stages, making sure not to include any excess liquid. If the dough feels too soft, chill it briefly in the refrigerator.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper. Scoop the dough onto the sheets and bake for 10 minutes until golden and brown at the edges. Allow them to cool slightly before transferring them to a wire rack.
- Finishing Touch: Once cooled, drizzle with salted caramel sauce for a delightful finish.
