Get ready for a spooktacularly sophisticated Halloween cheese and charcuterie board, because who needs cheesy decorations when you’ve got classy snacks to munch on while dodging ghosts and goblins?
When autumn creeps in, I turn into a holiday fanatic, bouncing from Halloween to Thanksgiving and finally crash-landing at Christmas. I’m all in for Halloween shenanigans, except for horror movies – you won’t catch me screaming at the screen! I thrive on crafting quirky costumes, decking out the house with pumpkins, spider webs, and all things gourd-geous, and hitching a ride on a hayride.

Charcuterie Board DIY Dark Tip
Who knew a charcuterie platter could be your next DIY project? No need for fancy tools or advanced skills here. Just grab a dark serving board – think of it as your canvas, but spookier. Choose a board as dark as your ex’s sense of humor on Halloween night.
How to Select The Cheese
Now choose the cheeses for the platter. Typically, I opt for a visually appealing selection of cheeses, usually around 3 to 5 varieties. Seek out a yellow or orange cheese, such as the popular sharp Cheddar (I prefer Tillamook), or the more distinctive Mimolette, a hard, orange cow’s milk cheese reminiscent of Edam. Mimolette is aged and boasts a texture akin to fudge. I also enjoy presenting a creamy, aged cheese (often with a slightly wrinkled rind), like Vermont Creamery’s ash-ripened Bonne Bouche goat cheese or a triple cream Brie. Additionally, a bold blue cheese with veins, such as Gorgonzola, is a favorite of mine. If a baked option is desired, consider trying out this recipe for pumpkin baked Brie with homemade maple pumpkin butter!
Complete It
Add a variety of dark fruits such as blackberries and figs to the platter, along with vibrant green grapes. I aim to adhere to a Halloween-themed color scheme of dark magic, incorporating black, purple, orange, and bright green to align with the theme.
Mini pumpkins and persimmons are excellent additions. Seek out dark-colored crackers that contain figs and nuts, or opt for those shaped like ghosts for a playful touch.
